Office founder and creative director Jason Schulte was invited to judge the prestigious Communication Arts Design Competition. A panel of nine leading designers selected winning entries for worldwide distribution in the 2009 Communication Arts Design Annual. "I voted for work that is moving design forward -- because it solved a problem in a new, smart, completely unexpected way, or because it was so freaking beautiful that I wish I had created it," said Schulte.

Office founder and creative director Jason Schulte served on a panel of jurors to select the winners of the Salt Lake City chapter of AIGA’s 100 Show. The competition highlights this year’s best design, advertising and digital media.

The annual
Cut & Paste Digital Design Tournament is a showcase of design as a fast-paced, high-intensity, internationally competitive spectator sport. Office founder and creative director Jason Schulte judged San Francisco's 2-D competition on February 28.
With eight designers on stage, music blaring, minutes ticking on the clock, judges hovering and emcee's on the mic, thousands of design fans watched competitors' every move. Congratulations to winner Allison Torneros, who will be traveling to New York for the Global Championship in June.

Fast Company magazine profiled Jason Schulte in its annual “Masters of Design” issue, naming him one of 14 “
Designers To Watch.”
“He has won plenty of awards for graphic design, but Jason Schulte prefers to think of his seven-member team at Office as ‘creative problem solvers, idea generators, and storytellers.’ While some clients come calling for help with graphics, Schulte almost always takes a step back to look at the larger brand. His peers may be surprised that such a tiny firm is working for big guns like Coca-Cola, Target and Adidas, but he says Office’s size keeps ideas from getting watered down. ‘When people see the work, they need to be amazed or have a smile on their face. I would almost rather have them hate it and react instead of feeling nothing,’” wrote Tim McKeough.

What is next in brand design? What's the next step in this age of viral marketing—where branding has moved out of the office, off the shelf and into the cultural narrative? As the consumer is continually sliced into microscopic markets, the next continues to arrive sooner and sooner. Brand designers are challenged to discover the newness and innovation in the client that is neither. A panel of brand experts -- Jeff Flemings, Digitas; Ravi Hampole, Tank NY; Michael Jager, JDK and Jason Schulte, Office -- discuss the branding process and how they create, recreate, envision, and imbue the next.
